Bekhterev National Research Medical Center for Psychiatry and Neurology of the Ministry of Heath of the Russian Federation, Saint Petersburg, Russi%u0430SUMMARYNeuroinflammation is a possible pathogenetic mechanism of cognitive impairment in recurrent depressive disorder (RDD). The purpose of the undertaken narrative review was to analyze recent publications on the issue of neuroinflammation; an attempt was made to assess the role of various inflammatory factors in the course of depressive disorder and in cognitive impairment in patients suffering from depression. An analysis of the data available in the scientific literature on possible treatment of depressive symptoms and cognitive impairment from the perspective of neuroinflammatory mechanisms correction is provided. Scientific publications indicate that neuroinflammation plays an important role in the pathogenesis of RDD and the formation of cognitive deficit.
